I've just finished building my first system and I'm looking for a good program that taxes the CPU so that I can be sure that the HSF and peltier is doing an adequate job at keeping things cool before I start playing around with overclocking. What do you guys use?

I would have thought that 3dmark and the quake time demos would have been oriented more to stressing your graphics card rather than CPU. Still its a start. Thanks

IMO running q3 at lower (640*480) rez or looping cpu testing in 3dmark2k would get the job done too...

I say Prime95 is the best... Although the system might be 100% stable with RC5, 3DMark2K, Q3A, etc. I generally find that Prime95 is able to catch some of the instability in a CPU with the stress test whereas the other programs generally do not.

I agree with Afterburn, that program beats the @#$% out of your CPU. I ran Prime95 for 8hrs with a cel366@550, no hiccups. Stability test said the processor was marginal, thought Stbility test was full of crap. I then tried to load Win2k - a big NO GO. Clocked back to default, all was well with the world. IMHO nothing stresses the CPU like Stability test.
