What is a good printer for money/performance?

I have been looking at a lot of printers and im stumped. I am interested in purchasing an ink-jet printer. I was looking at the epson stylus c61 and a HP, but I am unsure what I should go for. I print off lots of word documents, so one that prints the text clear and I also print photos off so a printer that can print good text and pictures would be great

Kind Regards

I got an Epson C62 a couple of days ago. I didn't print anything on it yet but it's supposed to be much better than my old Stylus 540 which dealed with photos quite nicely. So I think it's safe to say it's okay too (having in mind that Epson claims 4x larger resolution on the C62).

One thing to have in mind is cartridge replacements. With the C62 you can get replacement cartridges from third parties. There is a new Epson C64 but they started adding ID chips inside the ink cartridges so that you can only use Epson original OEM ink.

hi everyone again, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a good printer and whats good about them and whats not, I hope this will help others as well as me

RE:"PC World Top 10 Printers list."

The top 5 are Canons. Sigh. OTOH, some of those models have been replaced with new models.

HP. Just find a model that fits your price with the right specs. Had a Canon long ago. Crap, threw it away. Then between an HP and Epson I chose an Epson 740. Crap, threw it away. Got an HP now. Only good printer I've ever owned so far.

(actually I still have the Epson, but it may as well be thrown away. I may go Office Space on it on of these days)

Before you buy the printer check how much the ink will cost you, I have a Canon I450 and Epson875epx. Stay away from Lexmark or HP.

I started using monsterinkjets for my ink they are cheap but slow.

I have an Epson C82 and it works great. You can get one from a place like Staples for about $60 or $70. The resolution is incredible and it prints fast. The quality is just awesome 🙂.

I picked up a Canon i850 for my wife and she loves it. I was dead set against any Canon printer purchases because I had bad experiences with models from 3 or 4 years ago, but after reading a lot of good reviews of the i850 I have to say we love it. The photo printer quality is fantastic. I've also used it for T-Shirts and text and it performs well there. The ink has some of the best costing per page of all of the inkjet printers. Many of the lower priced printers are more expensive after a year because of inefficient ink use. Just for reference I've owned HP and Epson printers in the past. The HP was very good, the Epson print output is nice, but not too great for pictures (older model) and it uses up a lot of ink.

Perhaps you should add a reason....

Not that your opinion alone isn't good enough.

Well it is just that my opinion.
But after having 2 epson priners within a year and
1 decides to all of a sudden print eveything with a green color and then the second one deciding to print evything with pinstripes the heads being cleaned and tech support being of no use,
I purchased an HP and it's been going strong for 1yr 2months now not 1 single hiccup or problem.

I agree, in the last 2 years Canons have made a great leap.
And HPs for various reasons have gone in the toilet, mainly because of ink costs.

I recommend an HP also (if somebody else were to pay for the ink). Introducing smaller ink tanks, along with the difficulty in refilling is not the proper way for HP to keep customers happy. As Budmantom stated, calculate how many pages you intent to print. Compare the totals and you will realize that a quality prints and speed are nice, but per page costs are the most important consideration when purchasing an inkjet printer.

i had 2 lexmarks, both broke within 3 months, bought an epson and no problem for over a year now

I've had my Epson C82 for a good half year now and no problems yet. Before that, I had an older model Epson that was a good little printer. Overall, I have never had a problem with Epson.

well then as the saying goes to each they're own
all i know is that i will never buy my friends will never buy and my workplace will never buy another epson printer

IMO don't buy HP, their ink cartridhge prices are insane! and you can't but 3rd party cartridges for their printers either, from what I've seen Canon has the lowest name brand price cartridges and cheap generic ones as well, Espon i havn't looked into yet.

Thanks everyone, its seems its between the epson and the canon printers. Now I put this question to you.... Which is the cheaper for ink/quality of prints.

Thanks in advance 🙂
