I can tell you why most of them are overwhelmingly lame: they simply repeat the same words as the original and reverse the roles of the people involved. That's not parody.

Example:
Original thread is "I complained about my neighbor's loud music, and he threatened me with a gun."
Lame parody: "My neighbor complained about my music so I threatened him with a gun."

A good one is like amcdonald's; it puts a funny twist on the original aside from simple role reversal. It also helps if the original thread was pretty popular so most people recognize it's a parody instead of attracting numerous "WTF?" replies.

To me, very few parodies are good. But some are (sorry I don't save jokes forever just in case I might want to link them later so I don't have examples).

A good parody thread has these:
1) Originality - not just changing one word to get a point across, but completely revamping it while maintaining the same form and structure.
2) Humor - makes me laugh.
3) Has a link to the original thread (to avoid confusion and to highlight the humor).

Sadly, almost all lack #3. And sadly, many lack #1 or #2.

One where people go on and on without realizing it's a parody even though everyone else has.
