What is a good high performance air cooler.

I was wondering what you all would recommend as a good heat sink and fan.
I want to overclock a 2100 AIUHB 301 so i was wondering what would be a good HSF to help cool my 2100 to the fullest. Just air cooling.

Using a Abit NF7-s and some corsair 3500 ram.

Any ideas

Thanks

A Thermalright SLK-800A with a fan in the 40-50cfm area would be fairly good without going nuts on the noise level. The YS Tech adjustable-rpm 80mm fan can get up to around 50cfm but can also be slowed down if desired, so you might consider that too. If noise absolutely doesn't matter, the Vantec Tornado 80mm x 38mm fan is the way to go for monster airflow.

Right on the money here! This setup works extremely well for me and my friend.

What mech said 😉

First off, I do not believe that sits socket A processors like the Athlon. Second, the Thermalright with a good fan is a better more flexible option. Check out SVC for both the fan and HS.

yeah, what mechBgon said ^

Oh wait 😕

For the SLK-800's I'm pretty sure it will perform best with the fan blowing air into the fins but a person could always try both directions to see for themselves. I have the smaller SK-7, which is a darn good performer (almost up to the level of the SLK-800) and I have my fan blow into the fins, anyway.

I don't notice any difference

I have the slk800 and use Vantec Stealth Fan on XP2400 running at 2600

i don't notice any difference either when fan is blowing in or out.

is this normal?

So how does everyone else do it? Blowing TO the heatsink or Blowing OUT of the heatsink???

I would use the SLK800.

The SK7 is good as well but the 800 has one set of wire clips that fits all , all you do is change the wholes the rest in to allow different size fans.

I would get a 18$ rheobus and get a 14$ Tornado for it, then you can run it mild volume for normal apps and run it higher for Sits&Giggles.

But hell if money is no issue just get the SLK900 and run a 92mm Tornado on a Rheobus, talk about being able to push that chip to its limits. My 800 setup has great cooling and temps but my realiblity is at its peak regardless of its good temps.

Go to this post to see how to run best cooling to noise ratio on that SLK800/Tornado setup. I have some pics in there as well.

SLK800 & Tornado Duct Mod. Easy and Simple.... and safe.

Blowing on the heat sink or out... depends. They say if you have a lot of case space with good ventilation you could have it blowing out. However If the cpu is in a more enclosed environment you want to have it blowing on the heat sink.
