What is a good down comforter?

I'm having a lot of trouble finding a decent down comforter so does anyone have any recommendations in the <$200 price range (I'm willing to spend more if it is worth it)? I would like something that is both fluffy and as heavy as possible. I am looking at this comforter, but it seems the baffle boxes are poorly stitched so the down shifts straight to the sides.

I purchased this a few months back and after a month of normal use it began to shoot out feathers whenever it was touched. So now I see I cannot rely on overstock's reviews, which makes the buying process very difficult. It also seems the listed specs are not entirely true, at least for most of these comforters.

Thanks for any advice.
 
I have one of the Charter club ones from Macy's for <$100 on clearance. Have had it for about 6 months, no complaints.



 
I also suggest going with LL Bean ... not only is most of their stuff very high quality, but they have a "no questions asked" lifetime garantee on everything they sell.

I was curious as to why the price was a bit high when compared to Overstock's comforters. Then again, just about every manufacturer on Overstock lies about their specs. I never owned a L.L. Bean product so I did not know their quality stance. Hmm, looks like they have a good selection of comforters, as well. I believe I'll be going with this one - Linky

Would the extra 18 ounces of fill (48 ounces total) produce a considerable difference in terms of fluff/weight (the extra warmth I have no use for) over the 30 ounce comforter? I am trying to judge whether the extra $60-70 is worth it. Seems to be mainly for warmth.
 
I cant stand the smell of goose down, if you are the same, check out a comforter filled with primaloft, the goose down alternative.
 
I have an intense dislike for Overstock. Their stuff seems too...sketchy most of the time. The "horror stories" about the low quality and lack of customer service have kept me from ever doing business with them. Seems like yet another case of "You get what you pay for."

On the other hand, L.L. Bean is an excellent retailer, and I've had nothing but good results with products from Linens & Things.

I feel the same way about Overstock. Still, some of their products are quite good for the money. I did not consider $80 to be really cheap for a comforter. I was not expecting a lot and I was very pleased until the thing began to shed feathers. I see L.L. Bean uses cambric-cotton, which should keep those feathers in.

I forgot about Linens 'n Things. I have one a minute away and will have to see what selection they have.
