What is a good DDR motherboard?

I was looking at the Iwill KA266-R and was thinking about buying it but I am not sure if it is a good DDR board. Is the KA266-R a good DDR board and if not what is?

I have heard many good things about the Epox 8K7A.

The decision really depends upon two factors.

Do you Over Clock? Then I suggest 8K7A
Do you need onboard raid? then the Gigabyte GA7DXR
If both Gigabyte GA7DXR.

I don't think the Iwill KA266-R is using the best available chipset for DDR. Look for boards with the AMD 761 Northbridge like the Epox EP-8K7A. Boards using other chipsets (VIA and Ali) do not outperform than their KT-133A counterparts. It doesn't justify getting DDR. The new chipsets from SiS (735) and NVIDIA (NForce) show promise, but they are not readily available yet.

<< Wait for the Abit KG7, it looks like it will be a solid performer. >>

You seen what the price for that puppy is going to be? Higher then any AMD chipset board available right now.

I say wait for the Nvidia Crush Chipset boards to come out 🙂 Itll have onboard sound better than the SB Live Platinum 5.1 for only $20 more than most other boards.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me what exactly 'onboard RAID' means/does for your computer?
