Currently have the Brother 1270n...It is not functioning very well after we did a 500 sheets print run.

Well, to be perfectly honest, I don't think "Good" and "cheap laserprinter" have anything to do with one another. 🙂

Anyway, I just recieved an HP LJ 1200 for a client. It would work well with a jetdirect box. If you can afford it, or if it's for a business I would strongly recommend an HP 4050N. It's a wonderful rock solid network printer.

If you're sending 500 page documents to a printer on a regular basis you shouldn't be using a $500 printer.
 
i'd recommend the Ricoh AP 2100 21ppm Mono-Laser Printer
the retail price of the printer is over $1000 but u can buy it for $299 from tigerdirect.com (link)
i bought it my self for my home and its a great printer
extremely fast and reliable
an ethernet card will cost u around $100 to bring the total to ~$400
