Hi guys,

I have been looking for a black case for while. I am wondering if you guys might have some experience with this and give me more recommendations.

I guess the bottom line is, it must look sleek and sophisticated.

thanks

There are two black cases that I really like. The one I have now is a Black Hydraulic case which you can get at directron.com. It is the same case that alienware.com uses for their computers. I find it to be a good case, nothing great. It isn't good if you are a die-hard overclocker because there are not enough places for fans. The other case I like is the Antec 1030B (www.antec-inc.com, performance models i think). This is a bigger case and I hear its a very dark gray rather than black. This one has 2 80mm fans in the back and room for 2 more 80mm fans in the front. Everyone raves about this case. Only thing holding me back from getting one is I dont like that it's door swings to the left, rather than the right. My case is on the right side of my desk so it would be troublesome.

Just my 2 cents. BTW you could always find a beige case you like and spray paint it.

Good luck

My friend has the Fong Kai FK-320. Its a large case, a little wide, but nice and spacious inside. He really likes it. There is a major problem with it. The panel on the right (you dont open this panel much) is easy to take off, but the side panel you take off to get at the inside of the case is hard as hell to take off. He said he talked to other owners of the case and everyone has the same problem. So research in advance.

I'm thinking of going with the Lian Li PC-12 (the Black one). It's about $1690, without a PS, but I already have a 300W Quiet PC Power Supply, so that doesn't make a big difference to me.

If you can find it.... the Lian-Li PC-31 looks pimped out... if you go for that small techno-style look... its supposed to accept a full size atx mobo but since its got a vertical mount psu you might have problems with tall heatsinks (orbs, ect)

bwahahahahaha!!!!! oh my god, I gotta clown ya for saying $1690... hahahaahah

sx1030b is my case. love it. I'm just hoping that it will keep cool during so cali's amazingly hot and nasty summers. (come on, let's wish for an abnormally cold summer!)

very well made case. just unscrew the one side with the handle, and go at it. you can install everything by just doing that. putting all my crap in this case too all of 20 minutes-it was a REAL breeze.

Tammy,

A little off topic of the thread but..well my friend just got that same case you are mentioning about 2 weeks ago. I helped him build it and overall it is a good case. One thing that baffles me is the front USB/sound ports on the front have the wrong connectors. For example the front USB port cables inside the case are actual external USB cables that you could plug in the back. Our boards the MSI Pro2a have pins on the motherboard for front USB connectors, but this case doesn't use them.

Just curious how you have your USB setup, if you do at all. Otherwise it is a pretty nice case, very techno looking, my friend loves it. I'll stick with the antec 1030b and black hydraulic case for me tho :)
