I just built a new sys: 1 G tbird/KT7, TNT2U, Santa Cruz Turtle Bay sc, 256 PC133 Mosel RAM, 30 G Maxtor HDD, USB joystick, printer. When playing combat flight sim 2 after about 10 min I loose sound then lock up or blue screen with this fatal OE VXD TBCSPUD message.
Does anyone have any idea what this is all about? IRQ's look OK and so do bios. I have the 4 in 1 4.28 final drivers installed. My driver installation was by the book after a clean format with first win98se, then the 4 in 1 and other via drivers (USB< USB patch USB filter etc. The TNT2 U is AGP (this occurs with 4x or disabled), sc is in slot 2. I have had the sc n slot 3 with same results.
This is very frustrating. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. TX!

Are you experiencing the error in any other program or application?

I recently had an ThinkPad A20M with the same error message, it kept popping up after the OS launched, and about once every minute after that... after changing out the HDD for one with a new software image from another A20M, the error persisted, and our lead tech (I'm a software support guy) tried different RAM which didn't help. Finally, he replaced the system board, which resolved the problem. Granted, this wasn't with any particular app, it was the OS itself... but it was a fatal OE exception VXD error.

Do you have troubleshooter or some sort of diagnostic that can check the sysboard?

Actaully this happens only when playing tis game. All other apps the rig runs smooth as silk and looks fantastic. When I put a load on the video card and use the sound card together it seems to happen. I thought OE exceptions VXD had to do with video, is this correct? The TNT2 U card is the same one I had been using in my system when I rebuilt form a PIII 600 on a P3B-F and I NEVER HAD ANY PROBS with that setup, video or otherwise. Thanks for getting back to me, this is a real booger of a problem.

Hmmmm...

I thought it was video as well... I don't know what part of the sysboard was having the problem since eclaim just drops a new one in the box, but since it's a laptop...

Have you tried looking for an updated driver on the web?

My question would be what Power supply are you using? You may be trying to draw too much power that isn't there.

I would suggest that you try the Microsoft knowledge base. I did a search a few weeks ago with a similar error and there are quite a few articles on these types of error.

My ps is a 300 AMD approved Enlight. I can most likely rule out power as the prob. All the specs look OK on the monitor.

Just wanted to let ya know that I FREAKING DID IT!! I changed the I/O voltage from 3.3v to 3.4v after another clean format and install. I used the drivers on the mobo DC and not the new 4.28 4 in 1, also tweeked the BIOS some. It's runnin cool and hot. TX for ur input. :)
