The Mosberg you linked to it refers to having 2 interchangeable barrels, one for hunting, (the ribbed one) and a shorter smooth bore for home defense, (improved cylinder choke). The shorter barrel makes it easier to weld in close quarters. Mosberg makes a variety of combo shotguns, different barrels, different stocks and pistol grips all in the same kits. As they use it, combo refers to the ability to change the basic configuration of the shotgun depending on your needs.

Mossberg would be interchangable barrels for shot (long barrel with choke) slug barrel ( short smooth barrel with rifle sights). Or survival guns: over/under .22/.410, 30-30/20 gauge.

It is a shotgun that combines a rifle barrel with a shotgun barrel. I have a combination 12 guage - 30/30 winchester barrel set. 12 over 30/30 under for my Valmet.

Savage and maybe a couple other makers make shotguns with rifle barrels mounted on top. My grandfather has one that is 20ga/.223 rem that he uses for coyote hunting all the time - uses the shotgun for if they get in real close or .223 if they keep their distance. He also keeps it in the truck most of the time, it could come in handy for anything from grouse to cougar.
