What is a cobb salad?

i think its the ham/cheese/egg salad i see at most restaurants. or is that the chefs salad?

From McDonald's web site:

California Cobb Salad (Grilled or Crispy Chicken)-

Premium mixed greens are tossed with juicy grape tomatoes, shaved carrots, crumbled bleu cheese, hickory-smoked bacon and chopped egg. Offered with Newman?s Own California Cobb Dressing ? a full-bodied vinaigrette with a creamy blend of cheeses, hints of sweet pepper and savory herbs.

sounds tasty, but doesn't adding egg, bacon, and bleu cheese kinda defeat the purpose of a salad?

You mean adding that stuff makes it no longer be food? Or are you just under the ridiculous assumption that the only reason to eat a salad is to reduce calories?
