My cat pukes all the time and I'm sick and tired of always cleaning up after her and I want something easier. I normally spray resolve then use paper towels till they stop changing color. On the hardwood I still spray resolve (mostly just to disinfect) and then use paper towels and a piece of cardboard to slide the worse of it then just wipe the rest. Normally it's spread out in 10 or more spots throughout the house, on the floor, upholstry, carpet etc

I was thinking, is there some kind of tool I could use to both clean, remove and disinfect all in one go? I'm thinking some kind of hand held steam vacuum or something. I could spray disinfectant manually if I have to. Idealy it needs to be something easy to empty and clean.

I was thinking of buying a cheap shop vac and just dedicate it for that purpose in wet mode so I can just run water through it to clean it, but it would be kinda bulky to move around all the time. Is there actual products for this by chance?

I have something similar to this that I've used to clean up cat puke for many years:

Follow with resolve and paper towels.

You don't really have to disinfect. Pick up the chunks you can get, and do the rest with water. You can use a cleaner after the water if anything is left.

Of course, it'd be a good idea to figure out WHY the cat pukes so much/so often...

like it or not
http://www.amazon.com/Hoover-SteamVac-Carpet-Cleaner-F5914-900/dp/B00009R66F
that is the minimum you need for carpet

i don't know if there is any easier, if its going to do a good job it needs to catch dirty water that gets sucked out, and saturate the area and scrub with cleaning solution, and that leads to a lot of equipment cleanup afterwards. i got the process down to 15 minutes or so, hose it all out in the yard..and let it dry.. that is the price of a pet and carpet.

wiping with paper towels and resolve just is smearing dirt around.

+1, cleaning cat puke off of hardwood isn't too difficult.

I use a couple playing cards (bicycle etc.) to get under and scoop up the majority of the mess, without it pushing in to the fibers more than necessary, then wet paper towels. And finally a disinfect spray, especially if you or your kids like to sleep on a rug floor with their faces down there.

After over $900 spent at the vet, I never figured out why she does it and she is healthy based on all the tests she went through, so I gave up on that. I figure it's bad genes or something. It comes in cycles.

So just want something really quick and easy that I can pass and pickup all the spots in one go that works on carpet and hardwood.

Edit: that amazon link was not working a while ago but is now... that does indeed look like it could work. Wonder if there is a hand held version of that.

Define often. Puking once or twice a month means kitteh is operating within normal parameters, as it's a throat-clearing method.

I had my first cat about 10 years before she puked once. The two I have now are making up for that. They're puking machines :^/

probably do, but cleanup probably is no different, you still have the same amount of bits that get wet and soapy, and you probably should shampoo the rest of your carpet anyways.

Once or twice a month she'll hit a puking spree, where she'll puke every day for about 2 weeks. Then she'll be good for a few weeks, and then the cycle repeats.

I never even thought of Bissel/hoover type products so I googled and there seems to be quite a lot of handheld carpet cleaners, I think I will see what Canadian Tire or Walmart has. It would be gross to use it for different purposes after but if I dedicated for only that then it's not so bad. I just need to look at the designs to go for the one that looks easiest to clean. Something I can unload in the toilet without much effort then run under the sink real quick. Though if I do it all in one shot I may not want to dump that much in the toilet but I can always dump a bit at a time white I flush it. It's mostly breakable and wet so it should not clog.

Get a dog, it will handle all the cat puke for you and you'll never have to scoop again.

Hahahaha that totally would work, they'll even lick and sanitize it for me too. Hmmmm.

My cat does sometimes eat it again but she does not clean it as thoroughly as a dog would.

Just replace the cat with a dog, and realize what having a real pet is like.

that essentially works out to daily cat puking, with two weeks off every other month.

Your cat is broken.

Where is Alky, he knows way more about cats than most on here.

Personally I would try different foods. He is puking for some reason, whether he's eating weird plants or allergic to food.
