Amazing! What are you favorite type of veg to cook and ways to cook them? I usually just do a mix of veg (bell pepper, zucchini, squash, mushroom) and marinate them in an olive oil based marinade and then grill on skewers. I have a grill pan like yours in the first photo but I have not used it yet. Are those potatoes in there? Some of the meals I've been doing this year.
I've only had my grill for a year so I'm still learning. I have a couple of cook books and a grill site I use to try new things. Besides those veggies you mention eggplant and potatoes also goes well on the grill. So yes it is potatoes on the tray, takes about 35-40 minutes on medium direct heat, just remember to mix them every 5 minutes if you don't want a burnt side.Amazing! Hank Hill would be proud. He would want to fight me. I do it with hardwood charcoal BBQ style.I cook things like meatloaf on the gas grill.
We don't usually do jars here in Denmark, plastic bags is the norm. I think jars is a German thing. The long ones are colored red and are usually aimed at children and the likes, is a typical industrial product. The four next to the drum sticks are called "kålpølser" (cabbage sausages) and is is a coarse chopped smoked premium supermarket sausage, which two of my kids prefer. The majority are frankfurters made at the local butcher/supermarket with beef from local forest livestock. The pork is free range, while the chicken is not.Are the long hotdogs from the jar? Are they beech wood smoked? I've been meaning to try the Meica German pork frankfurters in the jar.
I don't do anything interesting with my Weber gas grill. Mostly either do lump wood charcoal from the chimney starter on the other Weber, or use my bullet smoker for low and slow. All old school. No wifi or wood pellets.
Yeah, I also use additives when making my own marmelade/jam (preservation/pectin) and backing (adding enzymes which also contain a few other additives). Generally I'm not too concerned. I like to make most of my food from the ground, so sure there's some ultra processed foods with chemicals mixed in, I'm not fanatic, the most difficult is to get the kids eating the healthy stuff 😛Here in the states most mass produced hot dogs have additives. There are natural varieties from a number of big brands like Nathan's and Applegate. Pretty cool your local butcher makes them. They look delicious.
For sausage, these are one of my favorites https://www.samsclub.com/ip/members-mark-jalapeno-cheddar-smoked-sausage-12-ct/13895106961
I think it all comes down to convenience, whether you prefer coal, pellets or gas. Those who have have oceans of time have them all. So if it's the hurdle of prepping the coal controlling heat etc. Which is holding you back, a gas grill is a good solution and with a smoke box you can easily have smoked flavor besides the regular grill taste.I don't own a gas grill but I have 3 weber kettles. 2 were passed down and I bought one years ago. This thread is making me consider getting one. Food looks amazing!
Do you use the smoke box every time or just for certain things?I think it all comes down to convenience, whether you prefer coal, pellets or gas. Those who have have oceans of time have them all. It's something that I've been contemplating getting recently with the new job and me not coming home until around 530-6pm. With a gas, the wife can fire it up 15 minutes before I get home and I can just slap something on there. Heck, if she's brave enough she can even try cooking on and see how she likes using it. There's no way she's going to fire up the weber kettle though lolI think it all comes down to convenience, whether you prefer coal, pellets or gas. Those who have have oceans of time have them all. I had zero experience grilling and bought a weber gas grill and it's really easy to use. One of the nice benefits is that you can make a whole meal on the grill and have zero mess to clean up in the kitchen. Just chop your meat and veg before work and throw it in the fridge to marinate. Take it out when you get home and throw it on the grill for 5-10 minutes and it's done and ready to eat. It's something that I've been contemplating getting recently with the new job and me not coming home until around 530-6pm. Just certain things. Also my kids are not that fond of the smoke taste.Do you use the smoke box every time or just for certain things?
