I really like this track, it first starts with a violin (I think), but I can't for the life of me tell what instrument they're using at 0:51

Anyone got any ideas?

edit: link fixed, I think

The Hurdy-Gurdy!

Fascinating, never seen or heard of this musical instrument.

Ill'n

It's a bellows blows Irish bagpipe. They're played sitting down. A full set has a chanter(the melody part), drones, and keyed regulators that are played with your wrist; generally for accent purposes. They're exceeding difficult to play, and exceedingly expensive for a full set.

Nice vid. He's not blowing into the instrument, which is a big distinction from traditional bagpipes.

I did think about bagpipes when I first heard the song in the OP, but it wasn't the traditional bagpipes sound. Didn't know there were different types of them, interesting

At first I thought it was pronounced willian or something hah
