What in the hell makes a MKIV Supra so much more expensive than, say a Z32 300ZX?

can't make 1000hp on stock engine internal with the 300z

What do 500 hp Supra's and 1000 hp Supra's have in common?

compare that # to supras.

So what, a Mustang/F Body can do that easily, yet I don't see them going for $30,000. What justifies the sky high prices? Because they have more potential? Probably, but I can't see why the prices are so nuts...it just doesn't seem worth it.

Toyota>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ford

Sides who the hell would buy an F body for 30k? Thats right no one cause their crap. True they can make a lot of power but their ugly and suck for driving except in a straight line

Those cars are a dime a dozen, about as aerodynamic as a brick and not nearly as refined.

I could make the same argument about these cars if I am purchasing a luxury car.

It's all relative

Supras are not exactly highly regarded for their handling prowess either.

I was THIS close to getting one when they came out. Too bad I didn't.

We still need more true sports cars.

Don't thinks so bud...Ford still makes the Mustang, T-bird and the Ford GT... Toyota's sports line up consists of the MR2, Celica, Solara, and Scion tC....a far cry from the Supra days.

Most of the problem IS that fvcking movie. :| As soon as that hit, every goddamn ricer with a few bucks to spend got a boner for that car, went to buy them, and drove prices way up. Then, once they got the car, they ran out and bought the ugliest body kit they could find, madd tyt3 dubz, and 600lbs of stereo sh!t. Once all that crap was in place, they then painted the whole thing lime green or orange, or some other ridiculous color, and added a hideous "graphics" kit.

I was looking at buying one for YEARS, as soon as I could afford it...now that I can, the prices are astronomical because of that stupid movie. :|:| I'm still planning on it, but it won't be for a while, now. Hell, I even made a thread about it, although I'm too lazy to dig it up.

QFT...I wanted one since middle school (in College now)..and when I told people that I liked the supra...people told me supra sucks...get a celica ..or asked me what is a supra? At that time, people were selling theirs for 8000 to 12000 for a real nice mint one..and nobody was snapping them up. After the movie came out...that was when everybody wanted a supra. I dont know why, I mean the supra in the movie didnt even look that good....its probably cause ricers had their ego inflated because the supra could "beat" the ferrari in the movie. Course now that supras are like 30-40000 on ebay, I just setlled with a Camaro SS.

You don't have to ask me, that's exactly what I'd do.. I've always had love for any Z car though, so it's easy for me.

The Supra and the Z are surprisingly similar.

I owned a TTZ and a friend owned a TT Supra, my honest opinion was that the Z was a much "nicer" car from the driver's seat. (IE better ergonomics, nicer layout, more comfortable)

The Supras, IMO are just a gorgeous design from the outside though.

You can take a Z to 400 hp for almost no $. It will be daily driver reliable.

I have HEARD that you can take a Supra to 500 hp though, and have the same reliability.

AFAIK neither is great at putting the power to the ground. Both have respectable but not amazing handling etc. It's just the rush of driving a 400+ hp car that's fun, period.

The surpras are so much more expensive because there were fewer of them made, and when the F&F came out, that was just the end of being able to buy them at a reasonable price. I've never understood why the Zs didn't hold their value better - they are great, reliable cars that hold up well. I bought my 91 in ~1996 for $15,000 and sold it in 2002 for $6500 - was a bargain at either price.
