A few days ago I noticed this thing in the corner of my kitchen. No idea what it is. Any exterminators in here? Maybe a termite nest, cardboard....no idea???

Ok, so if I just scrape it off, that should do it. Or do i need to take the paint off as well?

It likely grew some some deeper, dark, moist area inside your wall. Check for damn spots when you clear it off. You might have to replace part of the walls/ceiling.

Fungus usually doesn't just "show up" inside a house. At least, not on a ceiling.

Don't know if that will remove enough to kill all the spores and fungal material. You MIGHT need to bleach the area after you scrape it off in order to totally kill it. (usually doesn't need much of the original material to start to regrow)

oh man, that looks gross. and it does look like fungus. it also looks like you have extensive water damage there as well (freshly painted?). if it's grown that much on the outside, you probably have extensive fungi/bacteria crap inside. you definitely want to get a professional to fix that problem (not sure who to call though..) before it gets worse..
