OK. This issue is going to be bugging all day, if I cant figure out wtf is going on. This vehicle has been sitting in my backyard for about 3 years now. I need another vehicle, so I'm trying to ressurect it. New gas, new battery, new starter, new spark plug wires and spark plugs. Turn the key to start, motor turns, but doesn't want to stay on. So I check for spark. All plugs have spark.

Now heres the weird part....

When I take out one of the spark plugs and start it, the car turns on and stays on....sluggish, but it stays on. When I put the plug back in and start it, motor turns but doesn't want to start...

Any clue whats going on here?

The exhaust is plugged.when the converter is blocked that's how you get it started, you pull a plug or the o2 sensor

Check the intake/exhaust for furry creatures because it has been outside for so long. Mufflers and air boxes make great mice condos.

i've always wanted to see a mouse get fired out of a muffler...

i wonder if a mouse get past the filter and the throttle and get chopped up by the valve into the cylinder :awe:

I really don't see a at getting THIS clogged.

A normally-proper running v6 running on just 5 out of 6 cylinders should actually run pretty smooth, but just be a little sluggish. It shouldn't shake much at all.

Check the motor grounds?

And SES or CEL?

In 3 years mice will plug up the whole exhaust

Highly dependent on which V6 it is, its firing order, and which cylinder isn't firing. A miss on cylinder 5 on my old V6 was quite apparent. Engine didn't buck around or anything but it had an obvious vibration to it.

Of course the fun part was when the ICM blew and shut down cylinders 2 and 4. Sounded like it had a nasty cam in it but was extremely gutless and stank horribly 😛
