You're too far north.

Here is where I am. I'm all about both economic AND social freedom:

http://www.politicalcompass.or...raph?ec=7.88&soc=-3.49

I'm curious what questions we answered differently that caused me to be 3 ticks higher on social. I'm guessing it's because I said homosexuality isn't natural. But that doesn't necessarily make me -3 on social freedom because I would not use that opinion to impose social laws. They should replace that question with a gay marriage one.

I think that's a different thread ;)
In most things in life, balance and moderation are key.

But your test shows you don't have either. You're a bit too far to the left to be moderate. :p

At any rate, people do not seem to understand there cannot be social freedom without economic freedom.

Sure thing

What's wrong with economic freedom?

People like him want social "freedom" at the expense of economic freedom. E.g. they would consider healthcare a social "right" and would be willing to detriment economic freedom to do it.

Partisan hacks like you say a lot of stupid things ;)

There probably wouldn't be such a thing as a Godwin's Law, at least not one in that referred to Hitler or Nazism specifically. Without the holocaust, Hitler and Nazism in general would cease to be the most recognizable universal standard for evil that we see it as. WW2 would still be notable, but it wouldn't stand out as much in people's memories.

I dunno. It couldn't just be the homosuality question. Probably the abortion question and prison reform questions as well. Maybe the pot question?

Clearly. At least i'm an honest partisan hack vs you a dishonest partisan hack who pretends to love freedom and yet unwittingly admits his political compass score to show you are economically oppressive.

So basically I'm honest and intelligent, and you're a lying douche. Congrats.

Oh yea. I said no on abortion, no on prison reform, but yes on pot.

Well, my POV is this:

On prisons being for reform: Of course they should be. The vast majority of prisoners WILL get out. Why not try and reform those who are open to reform. Not all can be reformed but some can.

On abortion: In no way, shape or form would I want the government to tell me i have to allow my body to be a life support system to anyone against my will.

I look at it this way: What if Richard Simmons was attached to your body and the only way to detach him would kill him? Would you opt to detach him? I sure as hell would.

However, I think if the fetus is viable outside the womb, it should be removed and allowed to live rather than aborted.

Good, because I hate both parties. The GOP for embracing social conservatism and the Dems for supporting economic oppression and collectivism.

The big difference right now: The Dems have been far more successful in getting their agenda passed while the religious right has been dead in the water for 20+ years.

Prisons: I would not be against debating reform but my predisposition is to believe it will largely be a waste of money. Of course I base it on no data, so I wouldn't oppose a pilot program and see the results.

Abortion: Life at conception? I have no idea. I am particularly disturbed, however, at 3rd trimester abortions. Getting down to the point, I would prefer to make 3rd trimester murders illegal, and spend the effort to prevent unwanted preggers than fight to make all abortion illegal (which would be discriminatory to poor people and will have the unintended consequences no one wants to talk about).

It is a waste of time to try to rehabilitate some criminals.
what does that mean? there are two ways it could be interpreted, and they're at odds with each other. does it mean that there are some hardened cases that can't be rehabbed or does it mean that any attempt at rehab for anyone? i'm going to guess that 'agree' means that we should be rehabbing some and disagree means that we shouldn't be rehabbing.

Unfortunately without the religious right vote you give a monopoly to the leftists.

The key is to promise the religious right xyz, then when you fail blame the left. A Libertarian in GOP uniform is still a Libertarian. If you do the game theory on it, you must vote GOP.

Yes, I know that. Doesn't mean I like it.

And the GOP hasn't been much better than the Dems at spending anyhow.

You balance it by voting for the other question that asks should prison be for reforming criminals, or punishment. You agree with reform AND agree that some criminals are a waste of time to try and reform. :)

Hey guys!

We disagree on a great many things...

But...

Can we all agree that Kate Gosselin is a wise and beautiful woman?

:)

You know what I find funny about the Kunt Gosselin story? Ultimately ended in no more show, but with divorce. If you had to point the finger it's all her fault. Jon wanted no show, but family. Now Kate has no show, broken family. Congrats you selfish biatch.

Obama IS a socialist. He has been, and still is in favor of forced redistribution of wealth.

a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.

Who owns GM? Government. Check.
Who controls GM? Government. CEO fired, Barney Frank decides not to close his district's plant. Check.
Who owns majority of Citi? Government. Check.
Who owns stake in B of A? Government. Check.

So that covers means of production (GM - cars), and capital (banks).

Pleaze do explain, what iz socializm?
