Yeah, the "industry", especially big studio stuff is pretty nasty. I think there may be some "ethical porn" studios out there, but surprisingly it's not something that's being advertised much. And as a young model looking to get into the business, I think it's very hard to find the kind of people you would actually like to work with, because the big studios obviously have more market presence and can afford to aggressively hire talent.
It also depends a lot on the character of the girls and guys getting into the business. Many probably lack the confidence, especially at that age, to make any kind of demans, and are pressured into doing things they'd rather not, because otherwise "there's nothing new to show our audience".
Sure, porn is never going to be a cushy job, like any acting job, where when the cameras roll, you gotta perform, or you're out. But the current climate is quite toxic, from what I can see, with a tendency towards exploitation of the young and vulnerable. (hehe, see any commonality to army recruiters?)
