What if? What if a baby is born in an Airplane that is on it's way to US.

If a baby is born in an airplane, while the plane is on it's way to Hawaii. The Plane is over an US waters, is the baby automatically an American citizen?

Edit..

Parents are non-American citizens, maybe possibly, illegally hiding in the baggage area until the baby was born..
If you drop the baby out of the plane, it would land on US water.

then the momma is an idiot for flying pregnant. or a genious in the case that the baby is automagically a US citizen, but i highly doubt thats the case. we'd have pregnant people all over the place popping out babies during vacation.

You put the baby on a treadmill and when it falls off the end if it's heads the baby is a US citizen, if it's tails it's back to the country of origin.

There are reasons airlines refuse to let you fly if you are in advanced stages of pregnancy. Makes such an event uncommon.
