What if they give us Bin Laden?

What would happen if Afghanistan gave us Bin Laden? It seems like our government is counting on them not turning him over so that our 'war on terrorism' can start. Wouldn't them turning him over totally screw up our plans? Would there still be pushes for strikes against countries? Would we still get as much support from other countries? Just curious as to everyones opinions.

There are other terrorists, getting bin Laden honestly won't do much but cause retaliation.

Our goal is terrorists in general, not bin Laden.

He just happens to be on the top of our list.

Um...even if he is handed over there are many other terrorist organizations, we want to put a stop to terrorism completely, the handing over of Bin Laden would just be one step in that direction. I see it as a positive thing, not a negative thing.

We should give him a long slow public torture, and he hould be raised transfixed to a peice of steel upside above the terrible wreckage,in NY.So as to make an example out of him.In fact,i think all convicted in this atrocity should be hung in a similar fashion much like the Romans did.

But then what are we going to do after that? Going to every country and demand to have their terrorists?

I personally want to see the Taliban over-ruled and dispersed and a form of the Marshal Plan put into place. This is because they are planning a war against the US if they find it feasible. I see it as a direct threat - the Taliban said many more US citizens will die.. What more do we need?

If they give us Bin Laden, so what.

I guess that's the plan. Personally I think that's what our government should do to show we're dead serious on getting those pieces of trash. It's a war, it's a sustained war, and I don't think we're gonna stop as long as terrorism is still around.

I would say there is a high chance of the US never getting bin laden alive. He has told his own men to kill him instead of being captured. I don't think too many people will cry over this but he has definitely planned for his own death in giving instructions to his top-guys and what not, so really he is not as important as the entire terrorist network.

SinMen hit more the point of my question. I realize getting him does not mean the end of terrorism but what do you think we'd do if they handed him over, as unlikely as it may be?

U got it TC! Bin Laden doesn't matter, and it doesn't matter that he doesn't matter. They's a cotton sack of a-holes just like him prime for the pick'in. Just keep goin, keep goin until they are all gone.

I'm tuned in to CountZero's question too. I wondered the same thing. Suppose he just became another martyr for their cause and turned himself in, basically to save his people from being pummeled. Uh, are we still gonna "pummel" them? If so, how, where and when? Will it be any different than if he hadn't surrendered?

One down, couple hundred to go.

But who are we going after next? Don't we say there are also terrorists in the US? If we try to go after other countries without cleaning up our own backyard, how will the rest of the world look at this?

Pres. Bush has already said this is a fight that may go on for years. If they hand bin Laden over, it's just a first step.

This isn't a TV show or video game that will be over soon. It's a real fight against people that have perverted a religion into a hate of another culture. It isn't going to be easy, it isn't going to be quick.

WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - Afghanistan ruling Taliban conceded for the first time on Tuesday that Osama bin Laden could have been involved in attacks on the United States that left nearly 6,000 people missing or dead, while in Washington President Bush portrayed America as the ``home front'' in a war against terrorism.

<< But who are we going after next? >>

Hell I don't know their names. There is a network of terrorist groups or cells. Each of these cells has a leader, who takes direction from someone else. We want as many as we can get, including those who finance, aid and abet them.

<< Don't we say there are also terrorists in the US? >>

It is believed there are still members of this 'group' in the U.S., there are at any given time terrorists operating in the U.S.

<< If we try to go after other countries without cleaning up our own backyard, how will the rest of the world look at this >>

This seems to presume that we somehow 'tolerate' or 'allow' terrorists in our own backyard, and that we condone their presense. We do not. There is a massive investigation underway to 'clean' up our own backyard.
