Now that it looks like there will not be a UN ?fact-finding? carnival to show off on behalf of, the death toll drops by 90% (by the Palestinian?s own numbers). Maybe all of those that bought in to this line of propaganda (that Israel was practicing indiscriminate killing) should rethink the veracity and honesty of those who claim oppression at the hand of the Israelis.

True.
I guess the only surprise is the number of fools that DID buy it.
The BBC, CBC, CNN...

bleh :p

i thought it was telling though, when the BBC sent a reporter into the refugee camp (i heard the reporter's first hand account on the radio). he expressed shock and horror, but made it very clear that he didn't see any signs of a massacre. i guess people just ignored that fellow *shrug*

Well this is a war situation where the enemy is holded up in civilian houses shooting at the Israeli army...Of course a reporter who knows little about war situations would go bannanas seeing rubbled houses. But the fact that some news agencies were crying massacre when it was information coming from the Palestinians troubled me a little. They dont exactly have a track record of tellin the truth now do they.

Yep.. how many times did you see some old Palestinian woman on tv saying "I saw it with my own eyes!"... Yeah, right.

Problem is, a UN "fact finding" mission would be biased right from the start, and would be more political than anything else.

the terms and conditions of the UN thing:
-they can watch but they cannot judge on what is going on
-Israel reserves the right that the UN does not talk to any of its soldiers
-Israel reserves the right to hold documents and not release them to the UN

those conditions they put seem pretty damning.

The Middle East is about as real to me as the dark side of the moon. I know it exists, but I don't know what the hell is going on over there, no matter what anyone tells me...

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan suggested yesterday, in the wake of the Palestinian body count, that he may disband a U.N. fact-finding team that was to visit the camp to determine whether a massacre had taken place.
The Palestinians had suggested that most of the bodies were buried beneath the rubble of houses bulldozed by Israeli troops.
No digging for bodies was taking place here, and there was no stench that could have come from decaying human flesh.

I guess lies make better press for either lazy reporters or biased ones looking for an anti-Israeli / Anti-American angle.

This quote is interesting:

They have been instructed to erase any militant symbols and hide weapons, and refrain from taking any militant action while the UN teams are present.

So they *do* have the power to stop militants...I always thought people said they were extremists that Arafat has no control over

I for one am very disappointed in Israel's performance.
You call this a massacre? You call this indiscriminate killing?
With all your advanced US made weaponry ALL you could manage to kill is 56?
Come on! You're just not trying hard enough! Where is all this Israeli ruthlessness all the Euro-dwelling f*ckwits were screaming of?
You don't deserve the 'Nazi-like' adjectives that have been applied to you over the past few weeks.
You can do better Israel, I know you can.

While its certainly good news, it doesnt change the fast israel tried to removie bodies and bury them outside of palestinian areas, something the israel supreme court stepped in for and ruled was unacceptable.

It's probably too late for the real truth to take hold. The "massacre at Jenin" has been plastered everywhere on the front page of newspapers and websites.

The truth that there was no "massacre" will be buried somewhere inside where you will have to look for it.

<< figures... , bunch of liars >>

So you think the count of 55 bodies is inflated? And if the PA came up with this figure what makes you think the UN wouldn't? You think the UN is less credible than the PA?

Now, will all the MORONS that bought this crap have the GUTS to step foreward and admit they were WRONG?

I doubt it HIGHLY.

First it was Afgan Civilian casualities inflated by the Taliban

Then it was Taliban prisnors being Tortured.

Now its the "massacre" at Jenin.

And once AGAIN, the BS is exposed for what it is and the SUCKERS who bought into it have egg all over their face :)

This of course is NOT reflected at people who wanted more info before coming to a decesion. This is to the SUCKERS that had already made up their minds that Israel was the bad guy.

Lucky, Nightmare, Bluga and the rest of the loonie toones who brought it need to step foreward and admit their mistake.

BTW, this question is to the suckers that had already condenmed Israel, Are you going to admit now that Israel was RIGHT this time and you were WRONG?

Doubt it.

Did they all say it happened or did they say they were going to wait until it was confirmed by an outside source before passing judgement? I think one would be more of a Moron if they took the word of either combatant as the truth. You would expect either side to lie, propaganda is part of war.

No, these guys defended the intial report saying it was true and that Israel was covering up the truth. Thats why I singled them out.

To tell you the truth I felt in my heart that there were more than 55 killed just because of the nature of the attack. I knew better than to admit it though as I understood the PA propensity to lie about such things. So it's not that I believed the PA , I just felt the collateral damage would have accounted for at least a 100 or more deaths. This is good news for Israel and I'm amazed that the PA would admit to it.

<< How many of those 56 people were civilians? >>

Thats a great querstion but since terrorism knows no age or gender in Palestine, we will never know.
