What if she's 21 (or even 31) and he's 16?

People seemed outraged in the thread of he's 21 and she's 16.

My question is what if the roles were reversed?

When I was 21, I considered 16 year old boys as children. Still do, even the most intelligent, mature, and sensitive among them (all of whom which post here 😛 ). I had already been initiated into the adult world, and that makes all the difference.

This is really a sociological question, and the answer depends on the norms of the society you live in.

Perhaps in a primitive society where 16 year old males are already hunters and perhaps a 21 year old female is available as a mate, it wouldn't make a difference. Both have been initiated into the adult world. However, in a modern society, people take much longer to mature emotionally and mentally. I suppose there are some exceptions, but the bottom line is, a responsible citizen will obey the laws and wait for someone to at least be of legal age (if not mental and emotional, hah).

Provided both parties are at or over the legal age of consent, I have no problem with it. Humans are highly sexual beings, and there's nothing wrong with that.

However, that said, I think it's highly unlikely that a meaningful and healthy emotional relationship (of equals) can be established and maintained between partners of these respective ages.

When I was 9-10 some of the 13-16 yr old "ladies" in my neighborhood would flash their "stuff" at me. My older brothers acquaintances.

If I knew then what I know now............
😉

what if we were raised in a society where the legal age of consent was say, 15 for either party .. do you think your opinions on it being wrong would be different?

I guess there's really no way to tell unless it actually happened.
