I think an Obama/Gore ticket would be stronger than Hillary, Gore has the experience that Obama lacks and has already been the VP, as well as possessing "celebrity status" like Clinton. Especially with domestic issues such as rising gas prices in conjunction with his reputation as a staunch environmentalist, Gore's alternative fuel theories may actually be taken seriously and implemented under an Obama administration. Discuss.

the presidential nomination would have been Gore's for the taking if he wanted it... I don't see why he'd pass on being POTUS and accept another VP nod.

I do not think Gore would want to play second fiddle again.

Gore wouldn't really fit with Obama's "change" theme. My thinking is Richardson, Clark, Edwards, or Webb would be the best bet.

I would laugh my ass off if he picked manbearpig. Only hillary, Edwards, Kerry, or a handful of others would rival the stupidness of that sort of a pick.

I'm super, super cereal you guys, manbearpig is coming.

Anyways, Gore is a nonstarter, he's too polarizing and would hurt as much as he helps, if not more so.

It won't be Gore. I'm betting Webb right now. A true war hero from the South with moderate political leanings and bipartisan credentials. That's the right stuff against McCain.

certainly, the best way to appeal to Hillary voters is by choosing the guy who said the armed services were worse off for having admitted females :p

As opposed to his stellar record in helping female soldiers in the armed services. Right. Oh, and he wrote fictional stories that were mean!

No

The only limit was on the Presidental slot due to FDR.

Webb was on Jon Stewart a couple nights ago. He was asked the question and he didn't say yes but didn't say no either... Here's a transcript: LINK

I heard an interview with Webb on NPR the other day, and it was great. I hadn't really heard of him before, but he was discussing benefits / GI Bill type packages for vets. He sounded like the right guy to combat the republican BS machine in regards to the armed forces.

If you want to tank Obama faster than a convoy ship hit by a German torpedo in WWII, then add Al to the ticket.

Webb is fantastic when he argues on the floor of the senate.

I think Webb would win the soundbite war: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JTiuYCZ9Xiw

The only limit was on the Presidental slot due to the Republican's partisan reaction to FDR.

Fixed.

That may be, but it took the Dems to go along with it.

The Republicans predict bad things if Gore got it - evidence it's a good idea.

I'd love to see Gore, or Edwards. Gore's unlikely, not sure about Edwards. There seem to be big plusses outweighing the negatives by picking Hillary.

I don't think we need to try to pick someone who beats Republicans 'on their own ground'.

I think we need to pick someone who is a good Democratic candidate, not a good Republican candidate.

Harry Truman once said, 'given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican every time'.

I've made my case here before about Al Gore. I am a true believer that his time will come.

Actually, I was thinking Colin Powell would be an excellent choice...uh, wait a minute- America is not ready for that radical of a choice.

I've already submitted my letter to Webb telling him I wouldn't vote for him if he joined the ticket. :)
