What if the first one was worse than Gigli at the box office?

Would they pump out the other 2 anyways? Or do you think they would have but cut their losses?

Isn't that a huge risk to tape all 3 at once?

Of course, we all know that LOTR is like the best movie(s) in history 🙂D), but I was just wondering what if...
 
They didn't do all at the same time, some overlap though. Also, the post processing stuff would have been canned, etc.

The majority of the filming for all three were done in an 18 month timespan.
 
I enjoyed 1 (true to the "spirit" of the book) and thought 2 was...well a good movie, but nothing like the book. I have hopes for 3...but it will probably be a good movie as well.
