What if immortality is attainable, how will we deal with population control?

It would seem a simple matter of not allowing those that choose immortality to have children.

We would have to start colonizing all of the planets in this solar system (including their moons). If we were immortal, no need for oxygen, food, etc.. Right?
 
Assuming immortality means you can't age but you can still be killed...

Once food and resources get too low, we'd probably start killing each other for the resources. Alliances would form. Entire communities of 'unworthy' would get slaughtered. Once the planet has been 'cleansed' so that resources stabilize, we'll do the only thing left to do, war for religious purposes.

I'll be in my underground bunker playing team fortress 2 during this entire time.
 
immortal 'heros' will amass so much wisdom and knowledge... the geniuses, philanthropists, and producers of the world will carry the rest of people on their shoulders.
