what if I enjoy being just a number in a corporation?

I was never the type who wanted or needed attention from people. I'm independent and have a close family who loved me growing up.

I just want to go to work, get paid with or without recognition and leave. Just blended in as a number among thousands and I'm happy with that. I'm not loyal to the company because they aren't loyal to me so I'll play that game.
What' so bad about being just a number? I like the anonymousity

Do you really feel that way though? I thought that everyone wanted to be famous, at least to some degree.

I had a friend who had a conversation with me and said the exact same thing. I say nothing wrong with it. Congrats on being the status-quo!

You are the new number two

So people who eschew corporate jobs are doing it because they want attention?

That might be true for some people, but there are a lot of much better reasons than that.

Haha No. I am extremely ambitious and driven

Then why would you want to "Just blended in as a number among thousands and I'm happy with that."?

to put it in perspective, I interned at JPMorgan and currently work at a top consulting company.

Maybe I'm conservative and don't like to stand out too much. I was never the type who wanted attention from others because I'm secure in that way, hard to believe right?

Because when your company needs to lean the fat they will look at your number and say... "hmm employee number 8675309... can him because we do not know who he is or what he does."

Pity. While you're leading the dull boring life of a Corporate cog, others are living the exciting high-life at the Drive-Thru.

Sounds like you're looking for some kind of validation. Hard to believe when you make threads like this one and this one.

There's certainly nothing bad about being just a number because you see:

I'm just a bill.
Yes, I'm only a bill.
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it's a long, long journey
To the capital city.
It's a long, long wait
While I'm sitting in committee,
But I know I'll be a law someday
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I am still just a bill.

Looks like he's just passionate about what he does, that's all. Regardless of all the fucking retarded show spoofs and cliche jokes that go on about office work or similar work place environments, some feel as though the personal challenges they set themselves up for suffice in supplying a person with career satisfaction, which is all anyone really wants anyway.

I actually envy your current state. Its much better to be satisfied with something less difficult to find (vs. being a basketball star or something).

Good work dude.
