Internationally:

Make a concertated effort to try and get the Middle East to like us. THat doesn't mean kissing their ass, but it does mean treating them like humans, with the same rights as other people, and not treating their governments as toys that we can destroy when we please.

We also need to help them build their countries, provide fresh water and food to their populations and, in general, attempt to stay out of affairs in the Middle East and if we must intervene, do so with international support.

Get rid of Bush in '04. Instead of seizing on the unity after 9/11 against international terrorism, he divided the world with his Iraqi adventure. The man has too many ties to oil industry to effectively fight terrorism when it conflicts with oil interests.
I agree with that sentiment but I think his loyalties are split among several opportunistic themes not just oil.

The first thing the next president should do is get the patriot act and similar legislation repealed. That junk was written in troubled times, was shoved through very quickly and without balanced, rational debate.

The sad part is I don't believe any D would do this, none have even put forth the suggestion....and we all know third parties are a lost vote.

Trying to stop\prevent terrorism would the same as trying to stop war. Terrorism is a poor person's form of warfare.
