even Belgium has nuclear weapons, it's not a big secret that nuclear bombs are stored on the NATO base Kleine Brogel near Brussels. One of the possible NATO tasks of Belgian F-16 was to respond with nuclear weapons in case of an attack by the former USSR.

The weapons are still stored at Kleine Brogel

I'm pretty sure that Germany has nuclear weapons on its territory

Yes, US stuff ;) But not sure...maybe everything was retracted already...
And no, we won't strive for nuclear warheads anytime soon :p
But we would be damn fools to get rid of our nuclear power plant without an alternative, just because 7 years of government participation by the green party :(

yep, US stuff under NATO command

the weapons stored at Kleine Brogel are of the type B61, models 3, 4 and/or 10. The B61 a very modern free-fall bomb with a choice of four different yields between 0.3 and the 170 kiloton. Therefore some B61 bombs have 14 times the destructive power of the Hiroshima bomb (12.5 kiloton).

These nuclear weapons are under the supervision of about 110 American soldiers of the 52d MUNSS (Munitions support Squadron), but it is Belgian pilots who are trained to drop these weapons of mass destruction from their F-16s. Two Belgian F-16 squadrons, the 23rd "Devils" and 31st "Tigers", have this role.

Kleine Brogel has a storage capacity for 22 B61 nuclear bombs. However this does not necessary mean that there are always B61s at Kleine Brogel. It is possible these nuclear weapons can be removed from the base, and transferred to other bases in Europe or the United States, and that they can be brought back to the base very quickly in times of international tension. Although it is only possible to speak theoretically about the number of nuclear weapons at Kleine Brogel, the base retains the infrastructure and staff day and night, seven days a weak, ready to accommodate US nuclear bombs, and Belgian F-16s ready to take to the air to use them.

MAD is precisely the reason why Nukes have not been used by a superpower since WWII.

It's pretty counterfactual, considering Germany wants nothing to do with nuclear weapons and, during the Cold War, basically led the charge to have them dismantled."

But they didn't mind the U.S. stationing a few thousand warheads on German soil to prevent Soviet occupation of Germany. The fact is that if the European Union faced the threat of the a Soviet Union invasion, as in the cold war, they would either rely on the U.S. to protect them, or maintain their own inventory.

We're suppose to learn from History.

I didnt like how German Chapter 1+2 played.

I dont think i want to see German Chapter III.

Yeah or nay on a nuclear Germany?

There's no need for nuclear weapons at all. Get rid of them all. They have no purpose in modern war.

While we are at it, lets get rid of war all together. There is no need for war in a modern and civlized society. All disputes are solvable via discussion and compromise. The various peoples of the world need to learn tolerance for their fellow man.

Interesting point of view...

http://www.brook.edu/FP/PROJECTS/NUCWCOST/50.htm

The United States is still focusing on defense systems and trying to "perfect" Starwars that JFK helped start.

Umm.. Russia? The United States found out that some, if not, many, of Russian nuclear warheads were empty standing bottles - lack of resources? security measures? to boast U.S. satelite imagery... whatever, but the point is, if Russia is so under control, you'll know how much news coverage is done from their side, here in America? Zip on national television.
Cold War aftermath. Some people don't forgive after wars. Example, Iran is trying to search for leaders during the Iraq-Iran War which ran from 1980-1988, in attempts to make the Iraqi leaders pay for their destructiveness towards Iranians.

Alright, let's get one thing straight:

The United States is trying to save other nations from building nuclear weapons, because the world knows that any nation that has the resources to build "nukes" will only be depriving it's people.

Secondly, had the government focused more power on society rather than other things, our communities might be a little different today, from the research of the atom bomb to present day. I'm not talking about tanks rolling down the streets, I'm saying pay more attention on how money is being spent in schools and the improved learning from children to teen, to adulthood. Not a socialist, but added improvement in areas that need fixing? Studies show that students with special learning needs learned very little or nothing when placed into programs that were sponsored by "professionals" who were not well trained in special interest needs for children with "different (but not the lack thereof)" learning needs.

it's too bad Americans can't see their own flaws, they only think about money and how they can get more of it so they can support their kids through schools. what kind of schools? yeah, and all that money that's coming in? taxes need to be paid. yeah, and the taxes...? yeah, pay the officials in the gov. offices to help design more deadlier and xplosive weapons, faster and far stealth than ever before............. all for what, to protect the nation? doesn't anyone know how to distribute authority in all areas of life?

I feel sorry for select adults that raise their kids like robots, and not how to think and act for themselves in a free society and understand that slaved societies will never work out, but lead to deminished oppurtunity to help control our abilities to bring humanity to a better horizon.

Won't work. Some people only repond to violence. Two scenarios for you.

1. Go to prison and compromise with Bubba why he should make you his woman and see how much tolerance you get.

2. Take a nice evening stroll down Broad street in Philadelphia one evening. Try discussing the fact that the gang of hoodlums should return your wallet and apologize for rapping you upside the head.

Those two scenarios with which you speak of are excellent examples of discussion. Showing compassion to such invidivuals will get you nowhere, as those have been transformed via the society they were brought up in, into the monsters that they are. Considering how effective correctional facilities are at correcting individuals in the past, it would seem that helping these individuals is out of our grasp, as least for now.

If one was well educated, had a job they enjoyed, and could provide for themselves and perhaps their family, then one would have no reason to steal. If one was treated with kindness all of their life, they would never have reason to commit acts of violence or hate due to emotional damage.

War and violence cannot be stopped immediately. However, if man works to fix the issues that act as the root of such war and violence, then they can eventually be reduced dramatically.

fire400 - That was a whole lot of comment sense...are you white by any chance?

I totally agree with everything you said. I am a Libertarian and the idiocy of this nation astounds me. From the Drug War to the 400 billion military budget to the 400 billion dollar budget for the justice system to lock up non-violent drug offenders while putting murderers back on the streets - all while shunning treatment and claming to be "compassionate".

The average American is a F'ing moron. I am so sick of these selective double standards that I would rather be a communist than a Republican or a Democrat.
