And there are so many cases where Bush could do things Obama could never do. It all has to do with what fits in with preconcieved ideas about people/parties. If a Republican raises taxes, he mostly gets a pass on it because people think 'well if a Republican is raising taxes we must REALLY need to do it, because Republicans are for low taxes'. If a Democrat were to raise the same tax, people think 'damn tax and spend liberals!'. Same thing with defense spending, people think Republicans are tough on defense, so if they cut programs it's okay. It's much harder for Democrats. Hell, imagine if anyone other than Nixon had tried to open China. He could only do it because everyone knew he was the biggest commie hater on the block.

On the flip side, Democrats get away with things like racist remarks (like Joe Biden) that Republicans could never get away with. Deals with big business (like the drug one) that Bush would get skewered for. People don't doubt that Democrats and Obama care more about the people in New Orleans because Democrats are known for looking out for the poor... even if he only spends 4 hours there. Bush couldn't get away with that either. (although that's really his own fault).

My point is that if a new story fits into an already established narrative like 'Democrats are pussies' or 'Republicans are racist', people are going to run with it. If it doesn't, people won't. People trying to pin it on the media loving Obama or whatever are just falling victim to the hostile media phenomenon and are allowing their biases to get in the way.

The only time he didn't fuck up is when he was on vacation at the ranch. But, he couldn't stay there for ever since he did after all have a job ... somewhat.

If a comparison of media treatment is the point, then the MSM were pretty much imbedded in Bush's pocket in one of the worst examples of journalistic integrity--they bent over after 9/11 like a limp noodle.

A better question would have been: What if the Bush administration Hadn't done that? Addressing a number of quaint behaviors including a preemptive unprovoked attacked justified and bolstered by made-up, cooked, and generally misleading evidence.

This is extremely pathetic. In my view, both Bush and Obama get crucified all the damn time, sometimes for legitimate reasons and a lot of times not.

Bush took us into Iraq. Yes, the scale of that is greater than Obama's stupid statements, how much golf he plays, etc.

The Bush administration completely blew the Katrina handling. Obama stopped only for 4 hours. Again, the scale of comparison isn't even close.

Hypocrisy a bit? Perhaps, but these comparisons are getting really pathetic, like preschoolers claiming "Well, Johnny did it too!" as though it balances the equation.

And finally, Bush had bad people. I think he's a very weak leader overall, but his greatest weakness was getting the wrong people on the bus and not being quick enough to get them off. The amount of credit (and discredit) we give presidents is as silly as this entire article.
