This might go under a couple of forums, so when in doubt, OT

Here is my setup

Cable modem goes to the wireless router

Desktop connected to by cable to router

Printer connected via USB to Desktop (lexmark Z fiftysomething inkjet)

Laptop connected to router via internal Wifi

Both computers running XP Pro

So far printer drivers on desktop only.

Question is, How do I print from my laptop wirelessly?

I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS so ya have to be gentle with me. :)

Gracias

Share the printer on your desktop by right clicking it in Control Panel ---> Printers and Faxes. Set up a user account on your desktop for your laptop to connect as in Control Panel ---> User accounts.

Once the printer has been shared browse the network on the laptop and find the printer listed under your desktop. Right click it and install. (You may need to double click it to install. I can't remember off hand.)

You have to share the printer from the computer that it is connected to. Control panel, printers, share.

Are you networked, can you share files? If not you have to enable file and print sharing.

Enable printer sharing on the computer to which the printer is connected. Then install the print driver on your laptop, pointing it to the shared printer.

first, make sure both your computer and laptop are on the same network. (not sure if its this way in XP, but in windows 2k - rightclick on my computer, go to properties, click on network ID tab, go to Properties button, and choose the same workgroup name) then, the easy way to add a printer is to go to My Network Places -> Computers near me -> {desktop name} -> Printers. double click on the printer name, and it will give you a message like "do you want to make this the default printer... blah blah blah" click yes and it shoud work.

Well, I can see the desktop, but cant get access to it. Too tired to fuss right now. Guess I'll use a floppy for the time being
