Got a friend who is overclocking a P3 700 and needs better cooling then the stock HSF. Need to know what HSF fits this MB.
The Alpha PAL6035 looks nice, does it fit well?

Thanks.

He means me =D

Heat reports are kinda high, running a 700E@933 at 1.7v

Goes from 30-33c idle to 45-50c running around in q3 for a bit, heatsink is on properly..had a golden orb, but no paste, plus it barely fit onto the slot anyway, and thats why im being picky on the next heatsink and fan I'm going to get.

I know what you mean, the gorb -cusl2 combo is hard to work with. Not to mention not using heatsink grease probably hurt performance.

As far as another heatsink, have to recommend the new PAL6035s, or if your case will fit it, a PEP66 V2.0

If you want a cheaper alternative to the alpha you can go with a fop32 or 38.

Read what I said again...basicly stated Im not using the golden orb because I have no paste =) Which is why im using retail...

hehe, why not just buy some paste then? it doesn't have to be the best but some paste of any variety will certainly be better than none as well as reducing your cpu running temperature:confused:

i have the cusl2-c and have tried a variety of fans for my 700@933. intel retail, pal 6035, PEP66T and gorb. the pal6035 has the best fit. the PEP66T is nice but u can't fit a fan without moding it. i went for the PEP66T and no fan b/c i wanted quiet and i can live with temps going to 48C when stressed. with the pal6035 and a sanyo denki fan the temps never excedeed 35C and the fit was very nice. just make sure u get Version 2.0 of either alpha. Version 2.0 comes with foam feet instead of plastic and the clip has been redesigned fo better tension on smaller dies. i got both my alphas at pham computer. good luck!
