These days I CAN'T get to sleep before midnight, but since I HAVE TO get up early for work...I need to be able to get to sleep earlier but I just can't seem to do it.

What do you do to help you get to sleep faster?

What helps me get to sleep?

Exhaustion, mostly, but the occasional Narcolepsy attack seems to help.. :D Oh, and never underestimate the value of a good pillow! Hehe!

Exhaustion from my kids is a big help sometimes, but on nights like tonight, nothing does. If you find something that works, let me know. ;)

I'm with GF on this one... if you find something tell me... I've tried all the sleeping aids but I become immune to then after 1 night and I know they probably aint good for me either,

silence, darkness, and the cold. maybe around 60 room temp is when I sleep best. I think I'd do well sleeping in a cave, if it weren't for the darn bats.

Sex. Plain and simple. There is some chemical that is released after sex. Puts you right to sleep.

I've had trouble sleeping for about the last 5 years, but this usually works.. I lay down in a fairly dim lit room and watch a very boring movie, once I'm super tired, I head straight for my room, lay down on my back and usually I fall asleep in under 15min.

Try and get some excersise. Sleeping is easier if you get physically tired. :D

some doctor recommend this

a warm shower JUST before bed
it really helps
to make it more effective, warm your legs with the water for a few minutes during the shower

what this is that it makes your arteries in your legs holds more blood therefore less blood in your brain.
less blood in your brain means less oxygen - easier to fall asleeep
less blood in brain also means less thinking going on
it is much easier to sleep while your mind is 'blank' than full of stuff
warm shower also means you feel comfitable.... etcetc

I agree with Vi_edit.

My ex-could put me to bed that way in a flash. Too bad she wanted more after that. But after we were finished we would both fall asleep. Those were great moments. Now sheer exhaustion from all my work puts me to sleep.

For me? Mass quantities of hard drugs :p

Seriously, try taking some melatonin. It doesn't work for everyone, but it's real effective for me when I have trouble sleeping. And unlike sleep aids, it's a nice, restful sleep that doesn't leave you feeling groggy in the morning.
