Took apart my Pentium 200 (non-mmx). Cleaned up the CPU and its now sitting in my cube at work.

Friend took the case (old gateway) to build a comp for a family member. Rest was garbage.

Give it away to a family who isn't that fortunate.

It's amazing what they could learn and accomplish, Windows, DOS, surf the net, play games, etc.

That's what I did with mine

i fantasize about coming up with some creative way to harnass my dual p200 proliant server. might shove it in my closet and use it as a mp3 player, but it seems like a waste.

I find it funny how hand me downs go the opposite way with computers from everything else. You give your old computers to your parents who later give them to your grandparents... what a world we live in.

I'm still using my old AMD K-5 100 Mhz as a modem server. Nothing but Win98 with Internet Connection Sharing.

Just for the geek factor, and not having to redial everytime I have to reboot my main PC.

I got 2 Pentium class system (200 mmx and 233 mmx) running as my firewall and router ...

I will eventually need to shut them down and get a all-in-one solution from linksys or netgear (Gotta watch the electric bill). :(

I gave mine to my aunt who needed a machine for e-mail, word processing and the occasional web surfing. It finally gave out about a month ago although it did just fine for what it was intended for. I've still got an old Pentium 233MMX that I hate to part with. That was a great little CPU in its day. I remember I used to have it overclocked to 290 and it would outperform a K6-2 350 in games which I thought was so cool at the time.

Heck I still use an old P120-based Toshiba laptop since I got it for free (our office was going to throw it away.) I use it mainly to surf from the couch. It has 24MB of RAM. Fear me.

Ran out of people to give my old puters to. In fact, I've still got a Tandy 486/25 machine setting on the shelf.

I've been giving stuff to the thrift store. Not like they can sell the crap either. But at least they're teaching someone else how to work on 'em.

I bought a 486 lappy with the intention of making it a car MP3 player, but it's useless for that. No PCMCIA ports, no lan, no CD, nuttin. Just a modem and a parallel port (luckily I still have my laplink cables).

My wife decided she likes using word on it (!). So guess who got it. LoL

I actually have an HP Vectra sitting behind me in my office. The specs are:

P200 (Non-MMX)
64MB RAM
2GB HD
8x CD-ROM

It has two NIC's in it. It was originally our corporate firewall, running Mandrake. I am acutally in the process of formatting and rebuilding it with Redhat 8.0. It is going to be a temporary firewall at our new office space until we move our Pix 515s.

Its the first system I ever built It took me 2 days to get it running, now it the wifes system.

BTW she wont let me build her a new one she says it works fine for what she does, Im thinking of pulling the drive cable and telling her its fried and building something nicer.:D

Or better yet, upgrade my system.:D

Gave the 200mhz to a friend who had no PC ... going to be doing the same with my 500 soon ... (currently runs redhat with Postgresql, apache, php, firewall, eggdrop, bitchx, ip masq and forwarding, for my network 24/7 ... sometimes mess around with scripting/coding on the box as well. Also use it for cruising the web at times .. and ftping places .... It gets a lot of use ... and thats why i got in on the dell server deal ... got my 1.8ghz celeron ... just need to finnish setting it up ... and need to swap the physical connections and good to go with minimal downtime
