Yes, the lore. Funny how people don't get teased when they use buzzwords in the business world, but they do when used in reference to video games.

But the average player has no clue about the lore at all. No one ever reads the quests, they just ninja-click through them to get back out and click on things to kill them. So they can go back and ninja-click to the next one.

Who cares that much time was spent to come up with a storyline as to why you are killing everything that so much as twitches as you wander across the landscape.

Some do and some don't. A lot of people follow the lore and read the quests much more than you may realize. This is especially true when it comes to those who enjoyed playing the previous releases in the Warcraft series. It's a very good story for those who enjoy fantasy. In all fairness though, there are also tons of players who feel exactly like you do. The point is that it is there for people to enjoy should they choose to do so.

I just LOL because calling it lore made me think of it as a religion and I could see Wow becoming the next religion with blizzard staff as our overlords.

here's my wow relapse story.

I first played from about Dec 04 to May 05. Then in Nov. of 05 I came back.
I had just become recently single, i was bored, i was wanting to recapture the feeling.
So I rolled up another warrior got to 60 and ended up being an MT for a MC raiding guild.
Then I started raiding all the time. That was in November of 05.... I just cancelled my account last month.
FOR GOOD.

Moral to this story,
I thought I could just casually play it too! LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. LOOK AT ME!

Heck, they even got that church for Jedi's over in Europe. I'm not kidding.

I need to practice moderation and time management more before I am exposed to another fun hobby.

this is very true. I love the lore and story lines. I had a guy in my guild that was basically a lore machine. he knew everything and anything.

Game has been steadily regressing more and more, and now that it's uncool to be a PvE player, especially given thats the original point of the goddamn game, I've begun to look forward to my replacement.

I didn't sign up for Blizzard to turn the game into a PvP e-sport, so now that they are doing that, I'm out.

I don't know anything about Wow. What are PvE and PvP?

PvE = Player vs Environment. Basically you are playing against the computer.

PvP = Player vs Player. Fight other real people's characters in the game.

Well... I might have been able to keep myself off the juice. My internet was down for a few hours yesterday and I started playing Baldur's gate (the original on the second one's engine). I think I might be able to curve my need at least until The Witcher Patch returns.

And man it is weird playing with D&D 2.0 rules again. Clerics can only use blunt objects! Thac0's! ... Man this brings me back.
