What has weed done for you?

Ok so the ONDCP (or National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign(?)) has a new commercial called 'What has weed done for you?' here

Honestly the last two and the guy who talks about his ex-gf are stories that you usually find ridiculously funny the next day. Isn't part of the point of being young doing completely stupid things that you find funny and joke with your friends about?

This commercial actually makes me want to go back to smoking pot where I was completely immature and irresponsible. Epic fail Whitehousedrugpolicy.gov.

Those seem like some happy, well adjusted, teens... what seems to be the problem? 🙂

but seriously, i love how they list all these things that ive actually SEEN drunk people do (leaving friends to find own way home, getting drawn on passed out, sending texts while "under the influence") and associate them with pot. in all my experiences ive never seen a high person do these kinds of things.

brought to you by the same gov. that doesnt classify tobacco as a drug...

What's the odds of weed getting legalized within the next 8 years? Or at least decriminalized in most states

Those things are almost exactly the opposite of what stoners are doing to do. ESPECIALLY leaving friends, unless they weren't friends. All of the ones I've met have all stuck close to friends and won't ditch them unless they asked to be left behind.

hehe

There seems to be growing popularity all over the place for "medical marijuana". Lots of laws being proposed in that vein. I think it should just be legalized for "recreational" purposes like alcohol, tobacco, etc.

It's painfully clear that throwing people in prison for dealing/possessing weed is insane & alcohol or tobacco is FAR more destructive that bud ever was.

takes people moving mountains to get something that's been illegal for a long time to become legal, especially when so much false negative information has been spread by the Feds and various groups for decades.
Whatever the reasons were for making it illegal, it's gonna be a helluva road toward legality.

It's gonna take a few states making it fully legal or decriminalized, and not just for medical use, for it to really gain momentum as a topic. It's gotta start small, or else it just will get nowhere without visible proof that nothing terrible is happening without the stiff penalties in place.
Sadly, it's something that really belongs only in the states to begin with. The Feds have too much power, on matters that really should be in the hands of the states.

Ya... its always dubious when the people that keep it illegal "for your own good" are the ones that would lose funding if it was legalized.

Oh, lots of things... it mellowed me out, gave me many laughs, delicious meals and lots of funny, fond memories. In fact, this commercial makes me want to light one up right now.

Notice how happy the people in the ad are?

.....I think that was the point. The clash of their happy expressions with the bad decisions they made.

The commercial is horrible for many reasons stated above. However, this isn't one of them.

Yup!

The worst thing I ever saw when somebody was stoned was eating an entire box (4 sleeves) of ritz crackers in one sitting.

Drunk? Hmm, a few people killed, many mangled, numerous fights, cheating on spouses/girlfriends, you name it.
