Errr...because the idea was to take a 13-year old who has never known anything but iPods and the like and get his reaction to the technology that his Dad grew up with?

good experiment really.

Would 13year olds know what a vhs cassette is? Or a 3.5inch floppy disk? im 24 and i used 8icnh floppy on the commodore 64 when i was a kid.

You mean 5.25" floppy.

Now, the cassette drives like I used on my TI-99 BASIC computer are more relevant to this discussion. They looked EXACTLY like regular cassette recorders with EXACTLY the same keys on the front. I bet many C64 users used these too.

I have a 9inch floppy.

Ugh. Another, or are you pretending to be clueless?

Now, anything less than watching a recorded TV show on the DVR so that we can fast forward through the commercials means we've gone back to the stone age.

This.
If my wife is watching live TV, I go read or get on a computer.

Geez its pretty obvious the kid didn't write that, or at least it was heavily modified by the BBC/father. I would have thought it was obvious. Can people please stop saying his writing skills are amazing.
