If it was one of my Bull Terriers, the cat dies with a sickening crunch as the rib cage & spinal cord are crushed.

My dog caught a cat once and got her ass kicked. She was too docile to hurt it, I think she just liked to chase it. When she finally caught it she didn't know what to do.

it all depends on the dog, I had one dog that would chase the cats, but when it caught them or cornered them it would just let them go and continue the chase or quite if it was tired. Another dog I had though, would go for the neck and kill the cat whenever it caught up with it (really not a grusome kill, just break its neck or sufficate it). Would not eat the cat, but it would kill it .

An interesting story about that dog that is kindof applicable. We where standing under some trees, and these birds kept diving at us and our dog. Finally one got just close enough that my dog Snapped its jaw up and caught the bird mid flight. That was awsome (those birds where annoying and they stopped after that one was killed) Of course the part that was not so cool is the fact that my nieces where outside with me when it happend. They where sad for the bird.

If it's a large vicious dog, it isn't bothered by scratches and will crunch them. Otherwise, dogs will most times get pwned by a cat.

When I was younger my family had an older cat. It was declawed and docile from old age. It wanted most of all to sit on the porch. It did that for years without problem. Then one day a fairly large dog escaped from a cage a block away. It bolted right up to our house (around the corner so I have no idea why the dog came to our house). The cat tried to run, but the dog caught up. The cat jumped onto our car hood, left a pile, the dog jumped up and bit our cat once, and then the dog ran away. Well the bites went right through the cat's lungs. The vet couldn't do anything to save her. It was my mom's cat and she was on a small trip at the time - ruined her trip to hear the news.

Other than that horrible incident, I've seen cats win everytime.

Well if just one of my Jack Russells finds it, nothing. All they want to do is play. But when they both get involved they go into pack hunt mode. They havent made any kills yet but theyve come close.

Our cat, when she had her claws (like 10 years ago) would scratch the hell out of any dog that came near her. She's a meanie.

Our kittens haven't had any real experience with dogs yet, but they get scared if the neighbor's dog is barking. They're still kittens though. I like watching them wrestle.

My dog (a Westie) actually is fast enough :shocked:. I've never seen him catch a cat, but I have seen him catch full-grown, perfectly-capable-of-flying birds. The bird *always* comes out on the losing end, if you catch my drift.

The difference is that the dog only has to win once.

I don't let my 85 lb Ridgeback actually go off-leash to chase the neighborhood cats. Apart from the fact that it's illegal to have a dog off-leash here (and we're the foreigners so they do enforce it), she is fast enough to catch them and would probably kill them if they were stupid enough to hurt her. Hell, the breed was raised to flush out the big cats for hunters -- a little house kitty shouldn't be any trouble.

My docile, sweet Weimaraner that I grew up with killed a muskrat one time when it bit her on the nose. Without hesitation, she went for the neck and almost snapped the critter in two. Prior to that, I didn't think she'd ever hurt anything other than the occasional bug. Of course, she got a little nasty in her old age to other dogs and routinely scared the crap out of German Shepherds and Rotts that outweighed her by 40 lbs. It was rather funny to see.

One of my friends used to have a cat that killed a dog once.

It depends on the dog though. My golden retriever is scared of cats. I'm not aware of him ever getting attacked by one, he's just a big pansy.
