An answer is urgent and the fate of the Universe depends on it.

It's a given fact that McDonald's, BugerKing, etl., dish-out a lot of food. It's a miracle that at minimum wage one can prepare and serve these delicious treats in bunches. I'm sure there's a special formula written on a piece of paper, locked-up in a vault, that franchises use to guide them how far in advance they prepare something. After all, a meal not served is lost revenue. But no matter how good this formula is there's got to be plenty of leftovers after the end of each day. Which brings up my question: what happens to leftovers? I can come up with dozens of probable answers but I'll let the pros do the answering. Does it involve after-hours parties?

There are not many leftovers. Places like this only make up their standard sandwiches in bulk BEFORE actually being ordered during PEAK hours when it is known that a lot of these type of sandwiches are going to sell and do so in a rather short time to prevent them from becoming stale. Ever wonder why during the lunchtime peak you can order something and have it a minute or two later? That is because your type of sandwich was ALREADY being prepared in the pipeline on the speculation that it was going to be ordered. Towards the end of the day they only make sandwiches and other items as ordered. The only thing they might be throwing away are some fries.

well, it doesn't take a lot of preparation to microwave a chunk of meat. the "leftovers" stay in the freezer and get served the next day.

I love fries. It would be a shame if they threw them away each night. I once worked at CVS and the district manager tossed out all these crackers in the dumpster. I was shock how wasteful that was. They could have at least given it to homeless shelters.

i remember back once upon a time when i was in high school a buddy of mine worked at mcdonalds and at the end of a night he would give us a call... we would drive through the drive thru and get one of the giant mcdonalds bags full of hamburgers free of charge... eat about half of them and throw the rest out. /thread?
