I've always been wondering how pirates get caught. I know in p2p networks such as limewire they can track down your IP, but then what do they do? Also, how do they find the torrent pirates?
 
Whats this talk I hear about someone coming in and Confiscating the computer. Also how exactly can they proove you have the software/music/w.e. they are accusing you of pirating?
 
The patriot act gave the RIAA the power to just barge into your house and shoot you 12 times in the chest if they hear a rumor that you own a computer, since so many people with computers are pirates.
 
Man dont worry about that. I download at least a gig a day. I havent been caught but then again I got a linux box as firewall and a dedicated proxy to do my downloading. Of course I only download stuff I have leagally purchases.... HAHAHAH

The only time I've ever heard of something like that happening is when it was someone who was fairly high up in the piracy heirarchy--crackers, suppliers, people running the top level FTP servers.
