What happens if your PS is inefficient?

I've read a lot of posting about problems related to low power. I have a 250W supply on my rig.

Curious,
What kind of problems can occur?

i'm assuming that you can boot up and stuff, so really the biggest thing is stability. I found my computer to be a total pos but with a 250 to 300 watt ps upgrade, I was flying high. I get the normal lock ups once in a while, but really not that often at all. I run my computer like 23 hrs a day too, so it's a huge difference to me

Very occasionally, my system will spontaneously reboot. Power related?

win2k does that. turn off autoreboot and you can see the error.

I use WinME, but thanks for the info!

My system locks more than I think it should. I'll have to try a new PS and see if that does the trick.
