You can make up stuff to explain it away. There was a story linked/posted over at slashdot about the physics of the matrix. Some people have too much time. I'm apparently one of them as I read it.

So if you have the baby, do the computers link up the baby mind of a new harvest with the baby you just gave birth to?

It's true that if you die in the Matrix, the shock of the death will cause a real physical death as well... since your body can't survive if your mind dies. And it's true that if you get hurt bad enough, psychosomatically you might start to manifest some of the damage... but it's still all in your mind.

But if you get pregnant and have the baby, do your womanly parts bleed in real life?

Who knows... depends on how the Matrix deals with pregnancy... if it's entirely mental, then no. If they actually inseminate women, then possibly... if births are natural.

You can't get pregnant in the matrix. You can't psychosomatically inseminate yourself. The physical manifestations of injuries are understandable, but pregnancy? I don't think so.

It's possible that the computer inseminate the women to get them pregnant... they do need a host to create humans.

actually i'm sure people get pregent in the matrix, it is supposed to represent the "real world" so there are births and deaths, if you die, you get flushed down the tube, if yer born i'm sure they'll plug some interface cables and such to the infant the life in the matrix will start.
