What happens if you file your taxes twice?

First site I went to, I filed my federal, but you had to pay for the state and the form wasn't even ready yet.

Then my friend tells me about a diff site that is free for federal and state, and I can file the state right now, but it doesn't look like you can file the state all by itself on that site.

Should I just go ahead and submit the federal one a second time? It is identical in everyway, double checked to be sure.

The system will show your social security number getting hit for two returns. It invites some scrutiny, at worse you get an audit.
