firstly it's a CPU not a card
second it was never supposed to be sold in large quantities. You will peobably see a few before years end, but nothing like the normal P4c is around today

Yea, it's a paper launched product. It's "introduced" but you really won't be able to buy any. It does look like they wanted to steal some thunder from the A64/FX launch.
I heard they're also planning on having this "lead the way" for their 1MB cache P4c's.

It's marketing, of course it's shady.

Should be a rule like in Trans-Am racing in the 60's, gotta make X number of a model for sale to the public before it's allowed on the track (or testbench in this case) Until there are 50,000 P4EE's on store shelves it doesn't count, imo
And no sites should be benchmarking it side by side with the A64 or anything else until then![]()

I've never seen one for sale either.

AFX = AMD Opteron IIRC so I think AMD has had since the summer to stockpile

Are there 50,000 AFXs in the stores? The P4EE is just like the AFX, a server-type chip that's hastily pressed into desktop service for benchmarketing purposes. The only difference is AMD started first and had a few extra months to stockpile a few tens of thousands of FXs.
Yes, AMD was able to stockpile a small number of FXs. With its high platform price, short life-span, its easy to keep it in stock when nobody will buy them. The P4 EE is a reaction to the FX, so its not suprising it will arrive after.Originally posted by: Xafgoat
But you can buy them lots of places. Price watch has a bunch of stores selling them. As far as i can tell no store is selling the p4ee or is even planning too.

It was a dirty business move by Intel. This chip was never meant for the consumer like the A64 is.

And Pentium4-EE = 2MB L3 Cache XeonMP's. They've been around for about 2 years.
The questions is not whether there is a supply. The real question is validation. Theres no doubt the P4-EE was pulled at the last minute by some genius up at marketting. Since validation time is constant for everything, thats the real time cruncher.
That is exactly the case. Intel plans on a launch in November. Therefore, looking for this CPU to be available now is a waste of time and effort.I thought Intel said the EE would not be available until November in their initial announcement. If that was the case, why are we wondering where it is in October?
