What happened to the guy with 600 PIII's?

I remember reading a while back about somebody that had 600 Dell's. 850MHz PIII's. He said he could run any DC project he wanted, but only from 9PM to 6AM. Anybody remember this and have an update?

<< I think he's going to try to set up this wednesday >>

I sure hope he gets those up and running soon. It would work wonders for us in the race.😉

I beleive it was geek167 that was going to be setting up the service to run between a set amount of hours. I think he is using the LAN Install as well. So ggod news if he is going to get it up on Wed. 😀

Here's a link to the thread in question. Wednesday will be his next attempt at assimilation.

That's a whole lotta work units at stake there! 😀

ranch is a spanish word, in new york, it would be a farm.

in texas, that would be the king.

Arg. I went to install it today and the VP [Yes, Vice President] asked me what I was doing and he said to stop and if I didn't I'd get in major trouble. I had permission from the Cheif Technology Officer and administrator but the VP overides them both. He has some sort of thing against Seti. Sorry Guys. 🙁😱

geek, good effort no matter the outcome. I am sure that all appreciate the effort and will welcome you to the TeAm regardless of your output. 🙂

sorry to hear about that geek167, i think as well that he is an alien!

Could you possibly see about installing another DC project on those, if the VP is against just Seti? If he is against DC in general, then that is pretty sucky!

Thanks for trying anyway 🙂

Edit: Would it be possible to talk to the President about installing Seti, cos he would be above the VP. Tell him (or her) about how many big companies and organisations run Seti, and show some of the webpage to him. Could be best to go straight to the top!

The Peter Principle strikes again. Sorry to hear it got shut down, Geek. 🙁

It's great that you tried though. 🙂

Rowdy Ray grabs his cane and give that V.P. a WHACK with his cane. :| And it wasn't a friendy smack either.

After which, Farmer IndyJaws dumps a truckload of manure on them :|

Did that VP explain why he has something against the SETI project? I can't see any reason to be against it. I mean, what possible harm can come of the SETI project?

Maybe he's just afraid to find out we are not alone! :Q

He doesn't hate DC. But he sees no point in running seti because he strongly and firmly believes that there is no aliens [Christian]. I believe the same thing but I just run Seti for fun. I don't think he is against DC overall just mainly Seti.

I also run SETI for fun. Maybe you could tell him he could run SETI to prove there's no ET?

I wouldn't go over a VP's head for something like a hobby. Why risk your job over bad feelings? I never heard of "Christians" not believing in aliens. Maybe some sects do but I'm not aware of it being a general teaching.

If it is just SETI he doesn't like, there are cancer research and other DC projects.

It would be quite easy to deploy a OGR herd (Distributed.Net). Very little bandwidth consumed, and a pproxy would easily feed it.

Brad..

I said he could run it to prove there is no aliens. But he said that there is no way to prove the nonexistence of aliens by running seti. Which is true.
