I personally liked it when the join date and such would show up on a mouse-over, but that's just me.

Ah, but that 'feature' is only available with IE and NS <6.x.

You had the people that entered a super-long location, the folks that used an arguably obscene and/or inflammatory location, and the people that entered a pseudo-funny location, all of which simply took up space and told nothing about where the user posts from.

Yeah, a good reason is that sometimes people quote US prices when discussing a peice of hardware, then realise why you have trouble getting it.
It avoids confusion.

yeah, some people's locations were just stupid (some funny), like:

hehe. weeelll, i'm rather displeased at this because due to these 'losers' (for lack of a better word), this invaluable information has been lost.

Perhaps we should start a petition thread with a poll.
