The general gist of it is that it was bought out, and through people leaving/being asked to leave, most everyone has left.

Comcast bought it, merged it with their gaming network "G4" and then curb stomped the TechTV portion of it. No real big loss considering the IPTV/Podcasting area has picked up right where they left off.

All I know is that I used to watch ZDTV back in the day, comcast always told me it and its derivative, TechTV were never available to me, and that everyone who used to be on it hates comcast for ruining everything.

Actually, I know quite well what happened but will leave the comcast-bashing to the more qualified personel.

G4, a comcast gaming station, bought TechTV about 2 years ago with the intention to merge.

When the merge finally happened, they only had the flagship shows from techTV, but replaced a bunch of the cast because (they couldn't afford them/the cast refused the merge/G4 didn't like them/They are dumb).

So what happened is the minor cast members took the leads of most of the shows and people stopped watching, so G4 cancelled the shows... and basically got X-Play and Attack of the Show out of the whole thing.

Also with the merger, many cable companies dropped the station and ratings plummeted even more. Time Warner Cincy cut it from the standard digital cable package about a month ago. I was kinda bummed out, but then I realized it sucked.

Aye. Now leo says that they run his show at some ridiculous hour...like 8am on sudays or something.

I sued to watch it as a kid and liked it, but now that I know my stuff, I really can't see myself watching it. Even his podcast is too boring. Twit is good though...dort of.

Leo and Patrick rocked, there were a couple other guys on TSS that were cool too, but I dont remember their names. It sucks what comcast did to that show, and the whole channel in general. I thought it was a pretty inovative and refreshing channel from all whatelse was on, but now G4 seems like the same ol' crap.

X-Play seems like an alright show, but I would be lying to you if I said that Morghan Webb wasnt one of the main reasons I would sit through that show.

You guys remember Sumi Das? She was a hottie also.

This is what comcast told me as well! All of my direct TV friends used to brag about TechTV and comcast never let me have it. So, I am glad my cable company bought them out and fv#ked them up! Muahaha, who is laughing now DirectTV users!

TechTV turned into its MTV counterpart. Basically removed the good stuff and what the channel was all about and made it into something its not. There's only like 2 decent shows on there now.

I remember when it was Kate and Leo. I always thought Kate Botello was cute.

I watched TechTV almost religiously til they cancelled TSS. Leo and Pat brought some class to an otherwise classless tv station. Now Call for Help is on for Canadians I believe and we (the people in the US) get it at 7 or 8 AM every other Thursday after a rainstorm.

G4 was never a quality channel. All of their shows are crap, and for the most part staged. They had a few "competitive" type shows, where they had "gamers" on, and it turned out that most of them were friends of the cast/crew, since they couldn't get real gamers to come on and play. Comcast basically wanted the viewers, since TTV had something like 5 or 10 times the watchers than G4, but they fvcked it up pretty bad now.

Does anybody really watch this crap? The only thing I watch now is x-play sometimes and even that is getting old. Way too many stupid sketchs with people who think they are actors. I mean most games get a total of 30 seconds of review with 5 minutes of stupid acting.

AOTS should really be called 5 day old Slashdot. And who is it attacking?

G4TV doesn't even show gaming stuff hardly anymore. The entire day is taken up with Star Trek and ST:TNG reruns.

I'm glad someone else does. I gave up on TSS and the whole computer-TV idea when Kate left and Patrick emerged. Suddenly it was just inferior tech news compared to the internet and a lot of marketing-influenced-changes. Kate and Leo were the closest thing to sincerity I remember seeing on TV in years. I watched them and thought "You know, here are two people that probably wouldn't be friends in real-life, and their show has a lot of production-value issues, but they still seem to actually like each other and the people they help, and don't look like they're going to rush to the ratings numbers as soon as the tape ends."

Now I contrast those feelings to Dr. Phil and the rest of the "We only want to help people" TV lot, and realize why I don't watch new TV anymore.
