A couple weeks ago, news about SARS was everywhere and even made the cover story of Time magazine.

Is SARS pretty much under control or is it just old news?

though i hear they suspect there could be another breakout during fall

Old news evidently. Don't worry, we'll have another political scandal or something getting blown up somewhere soon enough to keep you glued to the TV. 😉

taiwan i believe its still pretty rampant. its pretty bad there. you have nurses quitting all over and such.

in toronto we just had a second outbreak but its getting under control.

i guess none of you people get toronto's news.
There were quite a few people quarantined there very recently. I think it was about a few hundred(?) heathcare workers being exposed to it.

The problem now is, this is going to be like the flu they think. Next year it will break out again only worse, at least that is what I heard.

They "say" its under control. Of course what government wouldnt. When you have new cases everyday I don't understand how they can call it under control. When the number rises instead of decreases its not under control.

i wonder if that guy that stopped dateing that nurse and posted a thread about it is begging her to come back and let him DHITB 😛

people stopped freaking out about it, so everyone's looking for something more sensational. almost like what happened to duct tape and plastic sheeting?

like sammy's corked bat.. oh no one cares about that anymore?

Actually, as a person living in China I can tell you that the number of new cases of SARS everyday has dropped to under 10, and like half the time it's under 5.

The reason why they say the Epidemic is under control, from what I can gather.. is..

The majority of the cases come from already suspected patients. Very rarley (maybe 1 or 2 a day) do they have new cases pop up outa nowhere. Thus, the virus is not so much 'In the wild'.

After they found a bleach sollution that could kill it they disinfect all the public transportation and Taxis once a day, but most people in Beijing and alot of the effected areas are still warry about going out in public so most people wear their masks and bike to work. If traffic is heavy, a bike can actually be better than a bus or taxi so it's not that much of a step down.

I remember just a few days ago, China had 0 new cases of SARS. That was a huge milestone.
