uh dude... it's safety glass. it breaks and the whole thing crumbles so you don't cut yerself on large shards of glass. it's already broken, it's just still in the frame.
How old is the window? It should be covered if it's still under warranty. It's not unusual for there to be internal stresses in the tempered safety glass. They can pop at any time if the temper isn't right. I've seen car window glass in a brand new car pop for no apparent reason.
Just think of it as a totally awesome jigsaw puzzle, then go tap the glass in the corner with a hard sharp object. 🙂
its broken yo, but like someone said, its still together, kind of like when you break a window from a car, they break in small pieces, same thing. time to replace it my frined. maybe you have kids near and tossed a baseball at it
Marble from a slingshot will shatter it like that and the since teh marble is glass as well they shatter on impact. Start questioning the neighbor kids Macarthy(sp) style.
Ours did the same thing, My mom was weedeating and somehow she flung up a rock and hit it. It shattered it, like someone said above, it is safty glass. Put a tarp below it and start poking it with a stick. Its fun if your bored 😀
Was it hot outside and then suddenly cool inside? I had that happen to a sliding glass door when I lived in an apartment in TN once. Scared the heck out of me when I say it because I thought I was going to have to pay for it. I told the leasing office about it and they asked me the questions about sudden temperature change and I said yes (because I didn't do anything else) and they said that it has happened before and they replaced it for nothing. 🙂 Or it could have been like some other have suggested and it shattered from the impact of another object. Either way, needs to be replaced. If you're lucky, you live in an apartment and they'll do it for you.
PH 😀
<edit>On my door, only the outer pane shattered, which eleminated an object that came from inside the apartment. 🙂 </edit> Is that what happened to yours?
I think purple is on the right track. A door on a friend's house did exactly the same thing. Maybe a leak in the seal between the panes allowed some moisture in to exacerbate the problem...hot day...cool night or sudden rain storm...blammo..broken window. I've seen this happen with car windows too; hot day, sudden thunderstorm (with accompanying drop in barometric pressure) and a window explodes.
