What happened to my car?

I was driving at about 45mph then suddenly the car jerked a bit forward like I accelerated really fast. Immediately the car became really loud; it makes a constant vrooom sound. It gets louder the faster I go.

Is my muffler broken? I'm not knowledgeable in cars at all.

Yeah probably something borked in the exhaust system.

Maybe the muffler rusted out and that jerking was your tailpipe getting caught in the road and being jerked away.

check the exhaust. Half of mine fell off last week and now my truck sounds like a race car, backfires a little on deceleration just like race cars, sounds kinda cool with straight pipes.

Turn on the car while in park and see if you can find where the noise is coming from. You most likely have something that broke wide open in your exhaust.
